Organize a Home-Cooked Meal
Every Saturday, guests enjoy a home-cooked hot meal, with generous seconds. These meals are prepared by a group of cooks, coordinated by a Micah 6 volunteer. A main dish, two sides, a bread option, and dessert are prepared separately, then delivered by the coordinator to the Drop-in Center Saturday afternoon. The meal team prepares enough to serve 50 plates to ensure all youth who come can have full plates, plus seconds. Volunteers often stay to help serve.
We have a robust roster of faithful cooks who prepare these meals, from Sunday school classes, to church service committees, to neighborhood friends. Typically a team prepares the meal once per quarter. If you would like to organize a meal team for the Street Youth Drop-in Center, contact the Home-Cooked Meal Coordinator.
